It is expensive today just for the package / trip to just get to you!

 UPS allows a one pound parcel for about the same as USPS charges for one ounce. So yes, we prefer shipping with UPS. And UPS is 3 times faster!

So please if you can, order extras to hopefully share with a friend in the hobby to make the cost worth it.
